A Hair Fairy
Q: What do you feel are your strengths as a hairstylist?
A: I love color! I feel that understanding how to work with it came pretty naturally. I have almost always had short hair, so I appreciate a cut that allows people to wash and wear their ‘do. I love texture and a little spunk to a cut. I think cowlicks make a style more interesting! That being said; I want my work to reflect my client’s aesthetic, compliment their lifestyle and make them feel like a shinier version of themselves.

Q: What made you want to become a stylist?
A: I went to college, got a Psychology degree and tried to use it in “grown up” jobs, but it was shriveling my soul. There was always the Siren Song of being a hairstylist. I still get to use the knowledge I gained in college, but I get to pair it with an element of creativity. My clients used to be assigned to me. Now I get the pleasure of spending my days having interesting conversations, getting a little messy and staying far far away from paperwork and a computer screen.
Q: How do you spend your time outside the salon?
A: I do soooo many things! I donate blood regularly. I make and sell jewelry. I create elaborate Halloween costumes and work with leather. I’m part of an Afro-Brazilian dance company and fire performer. I spend a lot of time with my 2 rescue cats and an adorable mini Schnauzer (sometimes our hair color matches) tend my jungle of house plants. I do yoga, train Brazilian Jiu Jitzu and box. Can you tell I have a hard time holding still?
